St. Elizabeth's Seton Festival

Throw it like you mean it!! WooHoo!

Not afraid of the rides!

Awe..Too cute..

Elvis is alive!!

Makenzie had been with us all week to babysit while I filled in at my old job on the 3 days that I didn't have babysitting kiddos. We were super excited to have Kenzie all to ourselves and to stay with Emily...but on Friday my best friend Donna showed up to get her! LOL
Since Emily was almost fever free for 24 hours, we all headed out for a little mexican food and her favorite neighborhood festival. We always have such a blast there! They have the best set-up for kids to play games, ride rides, beer garden for parents, fireworks, and steak sandwiches (we forgot about them or we wouldn't have ate! LOL). Great time and definitely plan to go back next year for our 3rd year!

Summer Bug :(

I have to say "knock on wood" we had been pretty lucky since Emily's bout with bronchitis in February. But you cant stay lucky forever from the germs! Emily had a 24 hour bug that also resulted in a fever over 103 degrees at one point. She was a trooper thru this one...even tried to play thru her nap but lets just say that this is how I found her playing ! Mommy scooped her right up and put her in bed for a 4 hour nap then we were going uphill from there :)

Tennis in Review

We had a fun 8 weeks taking tennis lessons at our neighborhood court. Amazingly this just seems to come natural for Emily. Normally her shy factor would kick in but not this year. I really think she is totally comfortable with tennis. It is the only thing that she has asked to take besides swimming. We will definitely be taking some indoor lessons this winter thru Witsken Tennis. Mamaw Fleta, Papaw Mike, Makenzie, Daddy, and even Fallyn got to watch her play during the two months. Fallyn was even asked to join the court at the end of her session to play a game with them. That made both girls giggle in excitement :)

Color Me Mine

Concentrating....

Before fired and glazed..

The finished product a week later..

As part of Emily's "bribe" to give up her bedtime binky, she was allowed to pick something special to do after we passed the first few weeks without even asking about it anymore. She chose to go to Color Me Mine to paint. Tuesdays are two for one and it just happened that Stephanie was still hanging out with us since raceday so off we went to let the girls paint! Stephanie chose a single rose vase and Emily picked out a cute crown to put her 2 favorite binkys in that can sit on her dresser for her comfortablity. Perfect piece for the occasion in my opinion. She picked pink and I added some green to her color chart (matches her bedroom theme). She did all of the painting by herself except her name. LOL This will be a piece that I will always cherish :)

Ready For Some Racing!!

Jeff Gordon is # 1 !!!

As Daddy prepared to go to the race this year...Emily was also hyped! She was a little disappointed that we weren't going too...but I think she is a little young for that all day event without Mamaw's rv out there. So to play along with cheering on our favorite driver she sleep in her Jeff Gordan t-shirt the night before the race then wore her Jeff Gordon denim dress the next day while Daddy was at the races. Too bad Jeff didn't win! Maybe next year!

Allergy Testing

You almost cant tell from the pics that she was just hysterically screaming while 3 of us held her down to get her skin allergy test. She actually looks pretty calm in these pics. The hard part only took about 5 minutes but she was not a happy camper to say the least. She did much better with the 15 minute wait time and not touching her back than the initial test. Today was our first appointment with Dr. Vitalpur. He will be Emily's allergist/pulmonolgist. We have tried to avoid going this route for 2 years but her primary doc thinks that her "mild asthma" situation is probably allergy induced. We have already been on year round allergy meds since her tubes were put in 2 years ago and now since having bronchitis in February we have been having some mild issues with a nightime barky asthmatic cough that was calling for albuteral atleast once a week or so.

They tested her for 29 "popular" things that most people might react to. Basically the "main" reactions she had were cockroaches and dust mites. Thankfully, we don't have to worry about cockroaches ...but the dust mites are always going to be a problem. I already figured that she probably had that allergy because it is my most reactive one and honestly she sneezes and has the coughing episodes inside. He said she may also have more outdoor reactions later as she has only seen a few seasons so far...most kids don't test positive for those early unless they are highly reactive. He also thinks she has more of a reaction to humidity change than the seasonal stuff outside. Like being inside in 72 degree air conditioning and then going directly out in the 90 degree humid weather.

He is taking her off her nasonex and singulair year round drugs for now and leaving her on zyrtec and her preventative asthma inhaler at night. I was glad that he thought she has been taking them too long also. He said she has been on the singulair so long that it may not even be working at all for her anymore. He said she has a mild case of asthma that he hopes she will outgrow as she becomes more used to her allergens and she will almost be old enough (closer to the age 5) in December to do the pulmonary tests at the next visit so he may try them then and maybe we can still ween her off the inhaler after winter....For now I still need to finish mite proofing her room as best as you can. Already did the purifier, bed & pillow casings, hepa filter vac, but still need to get the stuffed animals put away :( Unfortunately, you also have to be realistic and understand that there is only so much you can do about dustmites and I feel sure we do the best we can.

After our appt. and Daddy headed back to work we ran errands and went to Huddles Frozen Yogurt afterwards for the first time ...If your ever in Nora area next to Papa Murphey's, check it out! Tons of toppings and cool soft serve yogurt flavors & all for $0.45 an ounce. Jim Irsay's daughter owns it so they also have cool Colts apparel!

Curious Collections??

Oh my??

My daughter...yes I said my daughter! The one that was always so afraid of any bug and still sometimes has her issues. To my surprise has been collecting Cicada shells! Ewwww!!!

Pumpkin Seeds...

Since Emily did the shopping at Menards and Lowes for the garden stuff with her Daddy several weeks ago...she also came along some seeds that were Sesame Street advertised. Of course they were! You have to have something fun in your hardware stores so the Dad's can do some shopping with the kiddos with them :) So they picked up this cute Abby Caddaby seed packet and have been waiting till the right time to plant it. Tonight was the night. Mike made the mounds and let Emily plant her own seed packet and we are keeping our fingers crossed for atleast a one tiny pumpkin!
